• Animal Poison Control Center

  This is your best resource for any animal poison-related emergency, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  If you think that your pet may have ingested a potentially poisonous substance, call (888) 426-4435.  A $65 consultation fee may be applied to your credit card.  With your annual membership fee to Home Again (microchip company), there is never a charge to call Animal Poison Control.

  For pets with an Avid microchip, you can find resources and edit your registration information online.

  We use Home Again microchips in our patients.  At this site, you can find resources and edit your registration information online.  They recommend uploading a current picture of your pet in case it becomes lost.

  VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is a veterinary referral hospital designed to work in partnership with your veterinarian to provide the highest level of specialty care for your pet.  Their specialists combine both their knowledge and skill to treat patients with complex problems.  They are open 24 hours, and offer emergency service when our hospital is closed.

• Pet Insurance Comparison

  We have put together a spreadsheet comparing the benefits and costs of pet insurance plans offered by Trupanion and PurinaCare.  When we compared companies in 2010, we felt that these two offered the best choices.  The costs for the plans vary based on the age and breed of your pet, but both company's websites offer payment calculators if you would like more precise figures.

  Here are some apps you may find useful:

  My Pet Ed: A gps-based app that allows you to record your pet's health records, report and find lost pets, and find adoptable pets.

  Petoxins: Lists toxic plants, has searchable toxins, and a direct line to call the Animal Poison Control Center.  

  Remind My Pet: Allows you to add multiple pets and set reminders for when medications are due.  You have the option to receive reminders by email and text.

  Seizure Log (by Seizure Tracker LLC): A free app that allows you to track, videotape, and graph seizure activity.

  RedLaser Barcode Scanner and QR Code Reader: A free scanner that reads QR codes in order to direct you to the appropriate link.
